Being a student is not at all a piece of cake. Though it may seem easier and sorted, such is not the case. Students have to face challenges of their own. Some common issues faced by them are as follows:
- Difficulty in studies: The student wants to study but gets easily distracted and is unable to concentrate.
- Behavioral issues: The student shows rule-breaking behavior and may hurt others.
- Exam anxiety: Even after having the right amount of preparation, the student cannot hold himself together before exams and constantly fears to forget.
- Relationship issues: Constant difficulties with people related to the student, be it close family members, friends, perceived future partners, or teachers.
- Skill lagging: The child is unable to do a particular work because of the lack of talent. Example: Time management.
Dealing with failure:
Accepting failure and taking it as a challenge is not what some students are good at.
There are many more issues like conflicts in families, bullying, and other negative experiences that negatively affect the child. Some problems are easily handled by students, while others need assistance and guidance. But whom should they reach out to? The experts, of course.
Mr. Mitesh Mehta, the owner and founder of 7 Sages, has looked into such matters closely and has designed the StudentMitra program, especially for students who are facing such difficulties. As the name suggests, the StudentMitra program aims at helping students find a trustworthy person who can help them. Here the counselor or the mentor plays the role of the Mitra, i.e., the friend.
Any child above 10 years of age can come to the counselor with the challenges he/she is facing. As per the need, the students can take sessions from the counselor. Each session lasts for approximately 90 minutes. The counselor will help the student in venting out at first, followed by analyzing the issue and then leading to a solution-focused approach.
